Despite their prevalence, polymicrobial infections remain underexplored and their clinical management poorly codified. <em>Staphylococcus aureus<\/em> and <em>Streptococcus pyogenes<\/em> can co-infect skin lesions with the potential for metabolic cooperation. In particular, our preliminary data suggest that the interaction between both species may impact their transcriptional program, which can exacerbate skin lesions and promote tissue invasion. In this project, we will study how Sa-GAS interactions influence bacterial metabolism, transcriptional programs, in vivo virulence and host immune response.
